On the day when deadline set by Akal Takht to vacate all Deras ends, Dera Sacha Sauda is organising a 'satsang' in Sirsa.
CHANDIGARH: On the day when deadline set by Akal Takht to vacate all Deras ends, Dera Sacha Sauda is organising a 'satsang' in Sirsa and around two lakh devotees are expected to be a part of it. However, fearing that devotees may turn into a violent mob with Sikh radicals already baying for the blood of Sacha Sauda followers, a huge security cover has been provided in the entire district.
Not only police, even Dera followers have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that they do not face any danger after the deadline is over. Even on day-to-day basis there is a security cover during the evening 'majlis' of the Deras and at the 'naam charchas' (sub-deras). Sources said as many as 4,800 jawans of Rapid Action Force, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and Haryana Armed Police have been deployed at the Dera. In addition, Dera security also is present in large numbers.
To ensure that there is an overall administrative control over the forces, an additional superintendent of police, Balbir Singh Beniwal, has been appointed at Sirsa. This position was vacant for over six years. Right at the main door of the Dera and all along the Bego road, which comes from Sirsa, there is complete security on both sides of the road and proper intelligence network has been laid. Meanwhile, to check any untoward incident a meeting of Dera prabandhaks and some senior police officers, including Hisar range IG Yashpal Singhal and commissioner MC Wadhwan, was also held. They have requested the Dera to maintain peace.
